Although funerals tend to be one of the most unplanned events of our lives, planning and paying for a funeral in advance is a particularly comforting way of relieving your loved ones from some of the pressure after you’ve passed away.
Today more than 70,000 people each year have chosen to do just that. And more and more people are recognising the benefits of a funeral plan compared with the traditional method of putting money aside in a building society. | | Current legislation does not permit Funeral Directors to sell and administer plans within their own companies, therefore Funeral Directors have to use specialised companies who fully comply with all government legislation.
In 1990 West & Coe were pleased to link up with Golden Charter, a nationwide company which is now the largest in the UK. We believe Golden Charter plans are the most comprehensive and flexible available enabling a person to personalise a plan to their specifications. All monies paid into a plan are placed in a separate legal Trust fund, which is regulated by the Financial Planning Authority and administered by professional trustees, two of which are the main personnel from the charity 'Help the Aged'. |

West & Coe / Golden Charter - Benefits | There are many benefits to making funeral plans in advance. While it is a subject none of us enjoy dwelling over, making preparations means that you have greater peace of mind knowing that those you care about will not be burdened in the future. You can then get on with the rest of your life without giving funeral arrangements a second thought.- Once you have paid for your plan the Funeral Director charges are automatically guaranteed and you will not be asked for anymore regardless of whenever the death occurs. An amount will also be paid towards the disbursements fee, charges which are outside the Funeral Director’s control.
- Flexible options of payment are available, by instalments over 12 months interest free or over 5 or 10 years. Or a single payment can be made.
- We realise the sensitivity attached when thinking about taking out a plan, therefore you can come to our office or we can visit you in complete confidence.
- Your age or state of health make no difference to the amount you pay.
- Should you emigrate after a plan is paid for, the Trust will refund you in full (within 28 days subject to a small administration fee).
- Golden Charter pre-paid funeral plans are proven to be better value for money than high interest building society accounts because any shortfall of monies needed to cover additional inflationary funeral costs are automatically covered by the plan.
